How to Prepare for the Virtual Qualifying Fair:
Students must prepare a clear, 8-10 minute presentation with a slide deck.
Record the presentation submission as a team. All team members must appear on camera and speak during the presentation.
Have the slide deck on a screen behind the students, so the judges can follow along.
Treat it as if they’re presenting in person – stand tall, make eye contact with the camera, and speak clearly.
How to Prepare for the State Civics Fair:
Students are permitted to use notecards – encourage writing down only keywords to keep them engaged with the audience.
Have students record and watch themselves present, so they catch mistakes in pacing, posture, and filler words.
Practice in a large room or hallway so that students get comfortable projecting their voices.
