Becca Alonso earned her B.A. in Latin American Studies and Women & Gender Studies from Smith College in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Affairs at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. Her academic interests center on civic engagement, policy communication, and the role of public institutions in expanding access to services.
Becca has several years of experience in nonprofit outreach and communications, where she developed culturally competent strategies to connect communities with essential resources and public programs. She has partnered with schools, government agencies, and community organizations across Central Texas to increase civic participation and public awareness. Through this work, she developed a strong interest in how policy and civic processes are communicated to diverse audiences.
At the Annette Strauss Institute, Becca supports student voter engagement initiatives through the TX Votes program, helping to expand access to nonpartisan civic education and participation opportunities across campus.
