Becca Alonso earned her B.A. in Latin American Studies and Women & Gender Studies from Smith College in 2022. She will begin her graduate studies at the LBJ School of Public Affairs this fall, where she is pursuing a Master of Public Affairs with a focus on health policy communications. Over the past several years, Becca has worked in nonprofit outreach and communications, developing culturally competent strategies to increase access to essential resources, including health coverage, financial wellness, and higher education. She has also partnered with schools, government agencies, and community organizations across Central Texas to promote civic participation and resource awareness. Through this work, Becca developed a strong interest in how policy can be communicated more effectively to diverse audiences, ensuring that underserved communities can engage fully in civic life. She is excited to join the Annette Strauss Institute, where she will support student voter engagement through the TX Votes program.
